A larger framed illustration, planned with the bride in advance — and unveiled during the celebration.
While her guests are painted live through the evening, the bride's illustration is something else entirely: larger, more elaborate, and made long before the day arrives.
We plan it together in the weeks beforehand — she chooses the flower she'd love to wear, and the colours — and I paint it unhurried in my studio. She doesn't see it finished. It waits, framed, until the moment we reveal the whole collection together, with her portrait at the very centre.

How it began
It started with a single blue flower. I'd painted transparent flowers for years, but when I finished that one — petals falling open, light passing straight through them — I didn't see a flower anymore. I saw a gown. I saw Cinderella.
I've always thought of women as slightly magical creatures: full of tenderness, and a one-of-a-kind charm the everyday rarely stops to notice. And that's what this technique does, almost on its own — transparent petals hide nothing, they let what's underneath shine through.
So when I paint a woman into her flower-gown, I'm not painting her outfit. I'm painting the part of her that was always luminous, and handing it back to her — so she remembers.

About the artist
Katerina Kolberg
Watercolour artist who sees deeper than the surface
I trained first as an architect before watercolour became my focus — and that foundation never left me. It's why I can work quickly and surely, even with a room watching, turning the woman in front of me into her own flower-gowned figure while she watches it appear.
But what I love most isn't the painting itself — it's the seeing. I've always believed everyone carries something luminous just beneath the surface, and my transparent-flower style is how I bring it out: light passing straight through the petals, revealing what's underneath. Each guest doesn't leave with a portrait of how she looks, but of how she feels at her most radiant.
I'm at my happiest in a room full of people. I'm easy company — warm, present, genuinely delighted to be there — and that ease becomes part of the event itself. Guests don't just watch an artist work; they feel seen, and they carry a little of that lightness with them for the rest of the evening.

Everything you need to know before we begin
I need one table where I paint, and ideally a second surface nearby where the finished illustrations are set out on display, so guests can watch the collection grow. Indoors or out.
